Security Update: Recent Activity and Our Response

On Thursday, December 25, 2025, we discovered that a bad actor had gotten access to younow’s administrative back-end for moderators that includes, among other things, the ability to ban users, make events on our platform, and upload gifts and banners. We believe that the bad actor had access to our system for under two hours, and they did the following:

  1. They banned approximately 8,400 users, all of whom were unbanned;

  2. They changed our home page categories, all of which were changed back; and

  3. They changed one of our events, which was changed back.

The banning and unbanning process also caused our leaderboards to show incorrect information for much of December 25th, all of which should be corrected now.

There is no evidence at this time that the bad actor accessed or downloaded any PII for any of our users. Based on our system design and our current review, we have not identified any means by which PII could have been accessed. No banking, credit card, or other financial information was accessed or accessible through this back end system.

We have isolated how the bad actor accessed our site and have made a number of necessary changes to fix this issue. We are continuing to work during the holiday season to ensure that our systems cannot be accessed by unauthorized users.

We are continuing to investigate, and will work with Interpol and other law enforcement agencies to determine if we can bring the perpetrators of this crime to justice. If you have any information, we are offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the bad actor(s) involved in this hack, subject to applicable law and payable at our discretion. Please send information to legal@younow.com.

Thank you for your understanding.
